In the case of a septic tank, any septic effluent will be directed into a series of channels beneath the surface of the ground (known as a drainage field).
The natural digestive process of aerobic bacteria in the soil will then proceed to treat the wastewater, preventing it from contaminating nearby waterways or creating unsanitary conditions on your property.
